Workshop #1

Beginners

Introduction to Qiskit

Getting Started with Qiskit

Participants will set up Qiskit and learn the basics of writing quantum circuits in Jupyter Notebooks.

Hands-on Coding:

Writing basic quantum circuits, applying single-qubit and multi-qubit gates (Hadamard, Pauli-X, CNOT), and simulating the circuits in Qiskit.

Visualization:

Using Qiskit to visualize quantum states and the effect of quantum gates.

Workshop #2

Intermediate

Quantum Transpiler Optimization with Qiskit

Optimizing Circuits for Better Quantum Performance

Participants will dive into the fundamentals of quantum transpilers and learn how to optimize quantum circuits for execution on various quantum hardware.

Hands-on Coding:

Transpiling quantum circuits, optimizing them for performance using Qiskit, and adapting circuits for specific quantum devices.

Visualization:

Analyzing the impact of transpiling on quantum circuits and visualizing their optimized states using Qiskit tools.

Workshop #3

Advanced

Quantum AI Challenge 2024

Challenge Description

Define an optimization problem of your choice. (e.g., supply chain routing, energy distribution, weather pattern detection, etc.)

Implement your chosen quantum algorithm and run the quantum circuits (via Qiskit simulations) on the provided hardware.

Use classical optimization techniques to refine the quantum approach. (BONUS points for techniques that employ machine learning to optimize parameters, reduce noise, or improve convergence rates of the quantum algorithm)

1. Create a Qiskit Account

Qiskit is the world’s most popular software stack for quantum computing, with over 2,000 forks, over 8,000 contributions, and over 3 trillion circuits run.

2. Learn Quantum Computing from IBM

Qiskit makes it easier to get started in quantum computing. It does so through Qiskit patterns: intuitive, repeatable sets of steps for quantum workflows. These patterns are modular, and can be combined in different ways to achieve different goals.

3. Attend Qiskit Fall Fest 2024 Events

Qiskit Fall Fest is a collection of quantum computing events created and planned by university students and volunteer hosts, with support from IBM Quantum.
